EXT. GAS STATION – LATE NIGHT
Ally is filling up the Gas tank while recording her VLOG on her phone, we can hear the sounds of the gas station, and she gets interrupted mid gas pump. We hear the din of a highway in the background.
Ally
Hi Youtubers! Well, this crazy, project road trip is underway, it certainly hasn’t been without it’s surprises…
We hear the ding of a bell of a store door, we hear from some distance away.
Kristy
I’m getting you a breakfast Burrito Al!
The bells on the door tinkle slightly and Kristy’s voice fade.
Ally
Thanks..
Kristy
Yea Lex the extra cheesy one, yup
and the orange juice… I’ll make sure she drinks it.
The door to the Convenience gas station closes,
Ally
(Ally Sighs heavily) Serious
question, how do you get through the longest car ride of your life not speaking
to half the people in the Car? This whole trip has turnout to be way more than
any of us thought.

The windows are rolled down, the car is driving at highway speeds. There is
music playing over the speakers. We can hear the Car running the next few lines
get louder as the are not understandable at first.

Whoa sorry!
Sound of windows closing, the wind changing pitch like it does when you close the window. Also the music being turned down the creak of car seats and people try to settle after an awkward situation, crazy typing fills the car… Occasionally
RISH
Finally! I’m almost done this chapter I’m in the zone…
We hear headphones covering ears, knuckles crack, and the keys of a keyboard
being typed on quickly, Quietly…
ALLY
Wow that’s a great song Kristy.
Kristy
Thanks.. I really have been trying something new….
Ally
Wow. Rish is really intense. She even wears headphones and real zones in when she writing. I love her fics so much.
Kristy
Did you read the Souls Oath? I cried, I was waiting for my oil change, and the part where he kneels down and then mmmhmm happened. I’m still not over it.
Ally
She should write professionally.
Kristy
I’ve tried telling her that, but it’s a starving gig until you are lucky, and even then you have to be lucky to even continue. Trust me I know I produce music but it’s feast and famine.
Ally Sighs loudly, we hear the sound of a text sent.
Kristy
Lexy still not replying?
Ally
She seems really busy, let me know she was okay at least.
Kristy
Sometimes the people we are online aren’t who we are in real life. We all live two lives. I post these happy marital bliss photos all the time but you know what? I get hungry and tired and cranky and have fights.
Ally
Sarah seems great, though I have seen your facebook – do you really bake that many pies?
Kristy
I do, Pie is my secret skill. I make pie, she loves pie and thus she loves me. I am lucky though…
We hear a ding of a a text message from Ally’s phone.
Kristy
What did she say?
Ally
Um, ‘everythings fine Ally, don’t worry about me, just make sure to drive safe, and don’t stop at any truck stops those places are gross’
Kristy
Sensible.. Tell her she is being stupid! This the chance of a lifetime!
The sound of texting mixes with the car, typing.. At some point the typing stops
Ally
Kristy says you are being stupid and you should come..
We hear a ding of a a text message from Ally’s phone.
Ally
‘Tell Kristy that I know she will take care of everyone, I’m counting on her’(Ally laughs) She knows you always mother us…
Loudly from the back seat comes the same computer voice as was used for Lexy’s voice.
Computer Voice
He knows that deep down the betrayal of that moment, and all the micro moments that have let her down over the last year had made the distance between them impossible. She only knows one truth, she was coming for him. She couldn’t stop thinking of the last words he said to her, ones of comfort.
Kristy
RISH! Your headphones are unplugged!
Computer voice
Balm to her soul…
We hear clicking of a mouse pad.
Rish
Oh sorry! It’s done! So sorry about that!
Ally
You like that text to voice app to?
Rish
It’s great to read back what I have written. It’s improved my efficiency so much. Just one edit is usually required.. Also it sounds like everything is read to me in Lexy’s voice.
How are you doing Kristy? I can take over now if I want..
Kristy
We must be getting close to Danielle’s turn off. Ally, can you check the map on your phone?
Ally
Sure let me plug in my phone is almost dead.
We hear rustling noises, Rish puts her laptop away.
Ally
Okay so it says we are about there, I think.. Wait the little dot isn’t moving.
You hear her hit her phone.
Ally
Wait that’s the turn off up ahead, over there.
Kristy
What which way?
Ally
The only turn off over there
Kristy
Ah Hell!
We hear a blinker turn on and the car quickly change lanes – the tires squeal, there is a beep of a horn.
Rish
Holy shit!
The Car starts to sound normal as they reduce their speed and turn off towards the small town.
Kristy
Uh, everything is under control. Situation normal.
Typing sounds start from the back seat.
Ally
Oh dear god – my life flashed before my eyes.
Computer voice
Her heart pounded in her chest as she saw her life flash before her eyes..
Ally
RISH!
Rushed rustles
Rish

Ally
There left Kristy.. then down that street
Kristy

Rish
Well this is cute… Nebraska… a flag on every house…
We hear the car coming to a stop – being put into park, the car turns off – we hear rustling of the ladies settling after a long car drive. Rish puts her laptop down.
Rish
I need to pee!
Ally
I think we all could use a break.. we have been on the road since 5 AM…
We hear more rustling and a car door open, the other doors open and we hear walking slowly on pavement towards a house as rish runs to the door and starts insistently ringing a doorbell, This alerts the residents inside and awakes a sleeping toddler who starts crying, a dog barking. A Mans voice is heard from somewhere in the house. We hear this sentence as the man as a man and a pre-school child head the door.
Steve
Dani… I think your friends are here! Hey kiddo hang on.
A child opens the door..
Bobby
Hi… are you my mommies friends?
Steve is out of breath and obviously frantics from the mornings activities.
Steve
Hi… Bobby.. Come here.
Steve leans down and picks up the small boy, grunting slightly and opening the door wider.
Steve
Good boy, here is a tickle. Go find Mr. Thaly.. I think he is stuck behind the couch.
The boy laughs and squirms out of his grasp and he hops to the ground and runs
away giggling.
Steve
Hi Ladies, nice to meet you not peaking over Dani’s shoulder on video chat.
Rish
Hi..Can I use your washroom??!
Steve
Oh sure! Just down that hall second door.
Rish comes in the house, kicks off her shoes, she rushes down the hall into the bathroom, closes the door, and we hear the toilet seat cover being put up, pants unbuckles and a contented sigh that can be heard through the door. Everyone is happy to meet the husband of their friend.
Ally
Hi Steve!

They all enter the house.
INT. FAMILY HOME, AROUND NOON
The house is very busy with activity, there is a cartoon show on in the
background (something pre-schooly, there are toys on the floor which are
occasionally stepped on.
Kristy
Hey nice to meet you officially! I feel like I already know you based on how much Dani talks about the family. Has Bobby lost the tooth yet?
Steve laughs slightly, saying the next with affection.
Steve
Yes, it’s wiggling but nothing yet. He is pretty early to lose any teeth but he had that fall. He doesn’t want me to touch it.
Kristy
Make sure to post the pics, when the big event happens!
Steve

Ally
You going to be okay without Daniella for a few days? I think we can get her back by Monday night..
Steve
Yeah.. I’m fine. Just like when she has a big con she heads to.

A door opens and Daniella’s head pops out of the door.

The door closes
Ally
I feel like we are about to become her entourage.
Rish finished in the bathroom, the door opens.

Daniella’s door opens again and she is rolling a suitcase down a wood floor hallway.
Daniella
Hi Ladies! Get in here! I want a hug!
It’s like a dog pile off an awkward hug. Daniella grabs onto Steve too with half an arm, he grunts slightly.
Ally
Dani you have really perfected the Glomp.. Ug..
Steve
Okay okay, hun, do you need to take your big suitcase.. You aren’t performing this weekend.
Daniella
No but I need to be prepared! This is an important mission!
Rish
It’s true we do need to make sure we have everything just incase.
Daniella
Bobby-boo.. Where are you??? Mommy wants to blow your tummy.
Steve
Bobby.. Did you find Thaly? Dani are you going to be okay?
Kristy
I’m sure we will be fine.. Dani, The trunk is big but wow this suitcase..
Daniella
It’s fine! I am good a fitting things into tight spots..
Rish

Daniella
I mean fiting into the costumes. Silly! Okay okay… Bunnybear! Where are you sweety!?
Bobby runs down the hall and into his mother’s arms.
Bobby
Mommy… Are you going?
Daniella
Yes Bunnybear, but I’m going to miss you the whole time, and daddy and you are going to have so much fun while I’m away! Ah Mr. Thaly you are incharge.. You protect Bobby. Right!
Daniella hands Bobby to Steve.
Steve
Come on big guy! Just like last time, but this time mommy is having a fun adventure!

Daniella

Fading out as people rush to put on clothes, and Steve is comforting Bobby and bobby is starting to cry.
INT. CAR. A little while later
We hear an occasional sleeping sound from the Left, and typing and chewinging. The sound of the Car on the highway, until mid way through the conversation when we have Daniella wake up and they
RISH
(Much too loudly) I have candy corn if anyone wants some!
Ally
I’m good, thanks!….. Kristy can you turn the fan down?
Kristy
I’m good Rish!… Is that better?
Ally
Yes thank you, I haven’t driven in a while, I don’t want to get distracted.
Kristy
I’m sure your fine… Daniella really does just fall asleep as soon as she is in a car..
Ally
It must be because of all that travel she does! I mean she is becoming pretty big now. Especially for her video game Cosplay.
Kristy
Gotta pay the bills right?
Ally
Ugh. I have to worry about that now..
Ally’s cell phone buzzes, we hear her check it, swipe sound for the cell.
Kristy
Ally, that is like the third text from that Fanboys guy, and nothing from Lexy. We are almost in Denver.
Ally
Hopefully she is home, I know she can’t come with us but I can’t wait to give her a big hug. She has been going through so much with her Grandma and school.
Kristy
You definitely seem to be getting the short end of the stick.. I mean you did hate your job and your boss. And that guy.. Bill? Phil? He didn’t seem to be a quality companion. It seems like your standards are lowering.
Ally
Shawn… I don’t know what I’m doing anymore… I just want to find a guy. You know? Make him happy..
Kristy
Sweety, You deserve to be happy too…
Ally
Right.. Deserve has nothing to do with it. That’s not how the force works.[1]

Seriously, be patient with yourself… and get out of Wisconsin… See the world! Go to school. You are so young you could literally go anywhere. Be anything you want.
Daniela readjusts while sleeping

Ally
Shhhh…. Shh, what a life, hey, traveling almost every weekend? Those costumes pics she posts!
Kristy
Kinda like a rock star. On the road, or prepping to be on the road. She isn’t huge yet but she is starting to book some impressive gigs.
Ally
Bobby is sure cute up close! I’m not sure I could leave him as often as Daniella does. Steve does seem to be a plugged-in dad. That’s nice. But it must be hard on them.
Kristy
I learned a long time ago, to not judge other people’s relationships. Enough people have judged me and mine over the years. But it works for me.[3]
Ally
I know but like he is so little. Kinda reminds me of Ben Solo.. like being left alone. Sure Han is a good dad but he needs his mom. Little Ben growing up alone.. His mom traveling all the time or in meetings. That’s got to be hard.
Kristy
The off ramp is in like 2 miles.
There is a heavy sigh from the back seat. Daniela is awake suddenly..
Daniella
Do you two think I’m a bad mom?
Kristy
Oh Daniela no honey. We know you are there all the time for Bobby.
Ally
Oh no, I’m sorry Dani, I was just running my mouth, I know you love Bobby and Steve! I’m just processing my own garbage right now.
Daniella
No its okay… I didn’t expect to be married and have a child so young. Sometimes I question myself too. I just sometimes don’t know how to do it all.
Ally
You are so good at Cosplaying, I remember when you told me you were going to try to make this your job. I was so jealous, you have always had huge focus and vision.
Kristy
Daniella what are you worrying about?
Daniella
I don’t know I’m being selfish. That I want this weird career for myself. Like. Steve he is the best. I’m very lucky.
Ally
I mean it seems like it works for you, you are around when he is working during the week, and he is around when you are traveling. It would be no different if you were working shift work.
Kristy
Ally the turn off is over there.
Ally

This roadtrip has been amazing for productivity… How are you all doing?
Kristy
It kinda sucks that you don’t drive. But I guess I can consider myself a patron of your art by forcing you to write like a slave for 30 hours… Ally it’s the third left after this right?
Ally
Yes then Straight down that road.
Rish
I appreciate this as J.G.L FAN has been messaging me, to finish this other side project. I should have enough time to finish. I really hope I get to meet them finally in LA.

How long have been you been mutuals?
Rish
Oh.. going on Ten years I think, we got chatting weirdly about Rian’s short film Psychology of Dream Analysis.[4] They were so insightful. Also, honestly it’s just fun to go on an adventure. I never thought I would do something like this.
Daniella
This is my normal weekend… Minus the driving normally… IT will be so good to stretch!
Kristy
I was thinking we could grab Lexy and go get a bit to eat, when we can head out on the road again! Half WAY Ladies!
Ally
I’m going to be so happy to not Drive for a while, okay looks like we are here.. Nice house!

We hear the sound of the car parking, and everyone getting out of the car.

Kristy Rings the door bell, Sharon (Lex’s mom opens the door).

We hear the sound of a door open and foot steps to the stairs. Standing at the top of the stairs is Lex who is actually a guy.
